LambEx26 AMPC Carcase Showcase - Entries Now Open

ree

Calling all sheep producers

Ever wondered what your lambs really look like once they’re hanging on the rail? The LambEx26 AMPC Carcase Showcase is your chance to find out.

The LambEx26 AMPC Carcase Showcase provides entrants with objective carcase data, practical benchmarking and guided analysis, so you can see how genetics, nutrition and management perform where it counts -  in the chiller.

Hurry, entries close:

12 October 2025

The LambEx26 AMPC Carcase Showcase will demonstrate excellence across Australia's diverse lamb production systems with a concentration on collaborative learning rather than a competition.

An evolution of the hugely successful LambEx24 AMPC Carcase Competition, the Carcase Showcase will build on the interest and demand for carcase analysis by stepping producers - and the Lambex26 audience - through the results.

Using a combination of expert analysis, video and commentary from producers, there's lots to be gained for the entire sector by diving into our carcasses and linking that information back on-farm.

This Showcase recognises that the strength of Australia's lamb industry lies in its diversity, from grass-fed systems in high rainfall zones to feedlot finishing in grain growing areas.

Instead of determining winners, we will highlight the many pathways to producing quality lamb, while demonstrating the capability of modern assessment technology.

With 2,000 people expected at LambEx26, the AMPC Carcase Showcase will grow the understanding of the factors that influence lamb eating quality in Australia, while highlighting how producer carcase feedback can benefit the entire supply chain.

Who Can Enter

  • Australian lamb producers across any system: grass, grain-assisted or feedlot finished.

  • One entry = one line of 100 market-ready lambs from a consistent management group.

  • Target specs: 22–32 kg HSCW (sweet spot ~26 kg) and min Fat Score 2 (~6 mm GR). Every lamb needs a working NLIS eID tag.

Program Vision & Core Principles

There are 5 core principles guiding the LambEx26 AMPC Carcase Showcase:

1.

Demonstrating strengths and innovation

Highlighting specific strengths and innovations of caracasses rather than competing for overall superiority. The Showcase is about so much more than just the lamb carcase, it will explore the entire production system and include benchmarking and analysis. Three to four nominated producers will be asked to share their stories and talk about points of interest to LambEx delegates.

2.

Education as the foundation

This focus ensures all LambEx delegates experience comprehensive carcase analysis and hear directly from producers, supply chain participants and industry experts.  Video documentation, combined with expert commentary, and deep dive exploration of the carcase and production system will create permanent educational resources, extending the learning beyond LambEx.

3.

Collaboration across the value chain

The Showcase will bring together participants across the supply chain. This will demonstrate collaboration within the sector and the shared goals of producing and marketing lambs with carcase traits and eating quality reflective of customer preferences and in accordance with MLA’s MSA Guidelines.

4.

Showcasing the impact of genetics

Genetics and the effect this has on carcase quality will be at the heart of this Showcase. Entrants should be able to evaluate their carcase results in relation to their current ram team ASBV’s for carcase traits. A meta- analysis of entrant data will also identify trends and highlight information proven in scientific trials

5.

Highlighting nutrition and management

The Showcase will emphasise the importance of nutrition and management through the demonstration of a range of pathways currently used by producers to achieve optimum eating quality.
